Christmas Tree Festival

Having been missing for a few years we are so happy that Christchurch will this year be hosting the ChristmasTree Festival. It will be only available for tree viewings for a few hours each day 6pm to 8pm on the 9th and 10th of December so please go and see the trees buy one and take a fully decorated tree home for Christmas.

Our first Farmers Market

Last weekend saw the first Farmers Market come to life. We saw over 400 people come to the village and enjoy both our market and the Country Markets offering. We also made a difference for our local businesses that received great custom and in the words of one of our local residents, 'I've never seen so many people in the village, its fantastic!' It generated a great vibe in the village. We will have more next year and hope to continue the positivity it created. Help us do this and join Your Willaston. Watch our quick highlights below.

The community calendar will be filled with dates of events in the village giving one place to find whats on. If you have an event then tell us about it and we will show it in the calendar for all to see. We will also have links to all village partners to help the community access and not miss every event.

About Us

Your Willaston was formed in August 2024 with four main objectives. We achieved our first objective in October 2024 when we became the custodians of the “Christmas lights” which adorn the iconic Beech tree on the village green.Our second objective is to create and support a Willaston in Bloom campaign with the objective of competing again for the “best kept village” - an award that Willaston last won 20 years ago.Our third objective is to collaborate and support volunteer, charitable and business organisations in Willaston with their fundraising activities, community events and village improvements. Finally, we are committed to establishing mentoring opportunities for the young adults in the village. To successfully achieve all our objectives, we need the support of residents and the business community. To that end, we are looking to recruit residents and businesses as members of Your Willaston to support our objectives.

Willaston in bloom

Our objective is that by 2028 Willaston will be eligible to enter the Cheshire West and Chester “Best kept village” competition.
2018 was the last known sighting of the Best Kept Village sign that used to be on the Willaston Village Green. Since then, the weeds have moved into the village and are far too visible. Our first priority is therefore to get rid of them. It’s a war on weeds!

Once we have sufficient volunteers we hope to add flower boxes around the village to enhance it appearance and encourage insects and wildlife.

Collaboration

We want to continue to collaborate with the existing volunteer and charity groups in the village.
This is what we are doing with the Rotary Club at the Christmas lights switch on in November.
In collaboration with Christ Church last year we had a full house at the
Memorial Hall to witness an amazing classical guitar concert from the Katona twins.
The event raised £1,100 with 50% being donated to the Christ Church renovation fund. The completed church looks fantastic and we are glad we could lend a hand.
