About us

Your Willaston was formed in August 2024 with four main objectives. We achieved our first objective in October 2024 when we became the custodians of the “Christmas lights” which adorn the iconic Beech tree on the village green.
Our second objective is to create and support a Willaston in Bloom campaign with the objective of competing again for the “best kept village” - an award that Willaston last won 20 years ago.
Our third objective is to collaborate and support volunteer, charitable and business
organisations in Willaston with their fundraising activities, community events and village improvements. Finally, we are committed to establishing mentoring opportunities for the young adults in the village. To successfully achieve all our objectives, we need the support of residents and the business community. To that end, we are looking to recruit residents and businesses as members of Your Willaston to support our objectives.

Willaston in bloom

Our objective is that by 2028 Willaston will be eligible to enter the Cheshire West and
Chester “Best kept village” competition.
2018 was the last known sighting of the Best Kept Village sign that used to be on the
Willaston Village Green. Since then, the weeds have moved into the village and are
far too visible. Our first priority is therefore to get rid of them. It’s a war on weeds!

Collaberation

We want to collaborate with the existing volunteer and charity groups in the village.
This is what we did with the Rotary Club at the Christmas lights switch on in
November.

In collaboration with Christ Church on 14 December 2024 we had a full house at the
Memorial Hall to witness an amazing classical guitar concert from the Katona twins.
The event raised £1,100 with 50% being donated to the Christ Church renovation
fund.
The following week in December we provided two Santa Claus to the Hadlow Road
Station Cafe to support their Santa Christmas party for their customers.
We would love to hear from other groups in the village as to how we can support
them. Just fill out the contact form or email us at yourwillaston@gmail.com

Mentoring

Our fourth and final objective is to support the younger generation of the village –
those 18- to 24-year-olds – by providing a mentoring service. It could be career
advice or personal development. If you would like to find out more just fill out the
contact form or email us at yourwillaston@gmail.com

Christmas lights

Our commitment when we acquired the Christmas lights from the Willaston
Residents and Countryside Society (WRCS) was to ensure that we ring fenced the
associated funds received from WRCS to make sure we maintained the lights which
currently adorn the iconic Beech Tree on the Green. Our other commitment was to
raise additional funds when needed.
